Trained Reactions-Just Doing Life

Posted in

Mia used to snap at everyone when she was stressed. If her day went wrong, everyone around her felt it. After a while, she hated that about herself. So she started a new habit: each night she’d read a little, pray a little, and ask God to rewrite her reflexes. It didn’t look dramatic; it just looked like her, in her room, just doing life with God in the middle of her stress.

One afternoon, everything went badly at work. The email was unfair, the deadline impossible. Her old self would have fired off a sharp reply. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard—and then she paused. A verse she’d read the night before came back to her: “Be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.”

She deleted the angry draft and wrote a calm, clear response instead. Later, on the bus home, she smiled. The situation wasn’t perfect, but her reaction was different. All those quiet evenings of “study” had started to show. She was being changed from the inside out, right in the middle of her everyday, just doing life.
